Definition of solicited rating

Solicited rating is the judgment issued from the credit rating agency when: a) the request comes directly from the subject interested to receive the rating opinion (issuer); b) the request comes from a third party, with the directed involvement of the subject (issuer) which receives the rating opinion.

Credit rating process consists of the following main phases:

  1. rating request

  2. assign analytical team and conduct basic research

  3. meeting with management

  4. rating committee meeting

  5. issue rating

  6. rating proposal to company and additional discussion of the proposed issue

  7. divulgation of rating opinion (with the agreement of the issuer)

  8. surveillance (rating monitoring and update).

Information data set related to solicited rating process is the following:

  • quantitative data (financial statements; industry sector data)

  • "public" qualitative data (industry sector analysis; competitors analysis and market position; shareholders; corporate management; other data; etc.)

  • private qualitative data (strategy and business plan; organization; customers and suppliers relationship; management; operating risk; etc.).

Credit rating is defined unsolicited: a) in the absence of the request from the subject (issuer) interested to receive the rating opinion or in the absence of its directed involvement in case the request comes from a third party; b) on credit agency's own initiative.

Credit rating process consists of the following main phases:

  1. decision to issue a unsolicited rating (analysts team of Eu-Ra does not gather in order to estimate if it is offered of sufficient information in order to express - and subsequently to maintain update - unsolicited rating. In line with a positive answer the credit rating process starts)

  2. assign analytical team and conduct basic research

  3. rating committee meeting

  4. issue rating

  5. divulgation of rating opinion (with the agreement of the third part which requests the rating opinion)

  6. surveillance (rating monitoring and update).
